Description

Roast your asparagus in an air fryer to get flavorful, crisp-tender asparagus in about half the time. It doesn’t get much easier than this!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil
  • sea salt to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon sea salt per pound of asparagus)
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste (3-4 spins of a pepper grinder)

Instructions

  1. Heat the air fryer to 400°F.
  2. Trim the asparagus by snapping or cutting off the dry, woody ends off the bottoms of the spears.
  3. Toss the spears in olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the spears to the air fryer basket and cook until roasted, about 7-9 minutes. This time can vary based on the thickness of your asparagus. Use 5-6 minutes for thin stems.
  5. Remove from the air fryer basket and let cool for 5 minutes. Serve immediately.

Notes

Seasoning Ideas: Want to add more flavor to your asparagus? Toss your raw asparagus in some fresh chopped garlic (along with the oil, salt, and pepper) before cooking, sprinkle cooked asparagus with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or fresh lemon zest, add some freshly grated Parmesan cheese before serving, or top your cooked asparagus with some chopped, toasted nuts, like almonds or walnuts.

Storing Cooked Asparagus: Stored leftover asparagus in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for a day or two. When ready to eat, reheat in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 2-3 minutes to get back to that crispy texture.
